Richard Bauckham is well-known for his careful scholarship in a variety of areas both in New Testament studies and theology. Gospel of Glory focuses on the Gospel of John, and is a rich feast for those who want to dig in to this gospel at a more thorough level. I've always found that Bauckham notices details and creates plausible arguments that put me in mind of a detective as much as a scholar. Perhaps that is the point: discovery. Bauckham's theological analyses of John as well as helpful attention to its storytelling make this a valuable addition to any shelf of books that can supplement the commentaries on John and enliven the imaginations of pastors and teachers.
