The Boy Most Likely To by Huntley Fitzpatrick is an emotional, heartfelt story about love, family, and second chances. It follows Tim, a boy with a troubled past, and Alice, a girl who’s always taking care of others, as they navigate unexpected challenges together. The chemistry between Tim and Alice is both sweet and complicated, and Fitzpatrick’s writing captures their struggles and growth beautifully. Perfect for fans of contemporary YA romance with depth and genuine emotion.
THE BOY MOST LIKELY TO by Huntley Fitzpatrick is a solid companion novel to MY LIFE NEXT DOOR. Tim and Alice have a wonderful story in this YA contemporary novel and I absolutely love their growth. Fitzpatrick does a wonderful job examining relationships that painful and messy but ones that need to be told. Teen readers especially will find much to relate to or empathize with as they watch the characters' journey's unfold.
The novel is heavier than it seems and touches on topics such as classism, teen pregnancy, and addiction, so it may be worth highlighting that to your students or teen readers. Partly being told through the guy's point-of-view is also a highlight of the novel, as that's not always something we see in YA contemporary romance novels - it adds to the overall story and relationship between the two main characters.
This is definitely a solid purchase for school or public library collections where contemporary romance novels are popular.
