This story picks up where the first book ended. Katherine Price decides to stay in France with Philippe. Their relationship is blooming and neither one of them are ready for it to end. One day when they are getting into their car, Philippe finds a note under the windshield wiper and is upset after he reads it. He will not tell Katherine about it. She is okay with that for a while but then demands him to tell her. His first wife was addicted to cocaine when she was dying. Her mother and her associate were providing the drugs. They blackmailed Philippe into using a piece of his land to move their drugs or they would tell everyone that Philippe was the one providing the drugs to his wife.
This is another wonderful story. It has a steady pace, the characters are well developed, and it is written in third person. I do not usually read romance novels, but this series is beautifully written. Even if you do not usually read romance, I think you should give this book a chance. The description of the countryside alone is a reason to read it.
Exciting and fast paced.
Many thanks to Lake Union Publishing and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
This was an interesting story and I had been looking forward to it after having enjoyed the first book so much. The characters were well-developed and the ones who were supposed to be appealing were. Set in France, the country itself was like a character-- very evocative and pleasing.
Definitely a fun read and a great introduction for the third book!
The continuation of Kat, a mid 50s divorced woman from Canada, and her French partner Phillipe. This is the 2nd out of the trilogy. Loved the first book, and while I enjoyed this one too, it was not quite the same. The side story of the Russia mob and drugs seemed unnecessary in my opinion, as would much prefer just following them around while they explore an area of the world I have little experience about. Otherwise, a fun book with a lot of the characters from the first one making an appearance here too. Would highly recommend this series and author.
