The Netflix series The Crown has engendered renewed interest in Winston Churchill(John Lithgow's award winning performance helped). This book deals,with a little known period of Churchill's life when he was a reporter covering the Boer War in South Africa. But as you would,expect, Churchill, did more than just reporting. He acted as a soldier, a spy of,sorts and was an escapee from a prisoner of war camp. Quoting from original sources and Churchill's writing and reporting this book almost reads like a novel.
