I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.
Again, a great story about a woman in a male dominating world. This time it is Quinn as a mechanic, and a damn good one to. Seeing her butt heads with Tazen about her qualifications was great. What he did about her auto shop was cruel and mean, and I don't think I would have forgiven him.
For the first 50% of the book, I absolutely loved. It was a 5 star book. But then when Tazen and Quinn started hiking up, it took a downward turn for me. He treated her like crap, and they were always going up but not really knowing each other. They didn't really communicate or get to know each other, but were on an intimate and professional level relationship and for some reason that just bothered me.
So I enjoyed this book and I'm glad I got around to reading it!
Quinn Peterson has been running the families garage for years, and when she finds out that her father sold it without telling her until she showed up for work one day. She is more than just hurt. Not only that but he sold it to Tazen Watts a custom car builder and one that is also arrogant. His thinking is that no women can work on a car, and they can only work in the front as answering phones. The problem he finds out is that one people in town won’t bring their cars to him unless she is working at the garage, and when he does finally agree to let her work on a car because his own mechanic can’t get it to work he realizes just how good she really is. He also notices her beauty once she is out of her overalls and he now must find a way to fix the damage he has done. She has knocked him down a few pegs and she makes him see that there is more to life. When he finally starts putting it all together he has to hope it is not too late to tell Quinn how he really feels about her. A very good book and I really liked the strength in the Quinn character. A good strong female character. Overall a very good book.
Hard to Break was an easy read, not too light and not too heavy. The characters are quirky and interesting making you wonder how it will all play out. Their banter is one that will draw you in or turn you off, they come across hard unless you take the time to put yourself in their shoes. For me I liked it well enough, kinda got too sappy in the end a contradiction to the rest of the book.
