Carly Shay and Ethan Barclay shared very dark past and she believed it ended then until Ethan showed up.
She was living in New York, with new job and new place. She was finally settling down. She never wanted to face her past again. It brought up painful memories and only one person who understood her, Ethan.
When Ethan shows up, she knew something was wrong.
Ethan only wanted to protect Carly and he would do anything even if it is murder, he would do it. He wanted her to be safe but their past brought them back together.
When FBI agent Victor keeps on asking Carly and Ethan about their past and someone is trying to kill both. Now Carly needed to decide who she will believe and rely on. She knew felt safe around Ethan and nobody else.
But all the threats were not toward Ethan. They were all coming after Carly. Will Ethan be able to protect her and keep her safe?
Story moved quickly and suspense kept the story moving until the end.. Carly and Ethan never wavered their love for each other. Other characters were great too. This was first I read in this series and now I want to read the other ones in this series.
Thanks to Netgalley and Hocus Pocus Publishing for my ARC in exchange for honest review.
Not sure exactly why, since I usually enjoy this author, but this was not my favorite. On the one hand, there is Carly, who was traumatized as a young woman, and then Ethan, the crime lord who loves her. So many curves were thrown at me here, it was hard at times to keep track of who was who. Struggled with who was a good guy and who was a bad guy. Also did not see the snarkiness that is found in her other works. Was interesting, and would recommend, but not my favorite by her.
