Cute, light scam
This was cute. Nit something I will remember in a week, but fun while reading. I didn't realize I read this before until I saw a bookmark at the end. I have been a long-time Evanovich fan, but her stories got to be too ridiculous. This had one part toward the beginning that was stupid to me, but the rest was good. I do like the two main characters and am re-reading the series.
Nick and Kate are working together again. This time they are concocting a scam to take down Evan Trace, an international casino magnate. And when their first scam backfires, they have to come up with another on the fly to wrap up their case. But actions have consequences as the clifhanger of an ending reminds the reader.
The fourth book in this collaboration between Evanovich and Goldberg, continues to deliver and let Nick and Kate travel to several places as they figure the scam.
This book sat on my reading device for a very, very long time. I started reading it several times and each time I picked it up, I was obviously not in the right place to read it.
This time though, I was in and I found reading it was just so entertaining! The book is filled with hilarious escapades, smart cons, and heists. It held my interest and I truly enjoyed reading it.
I've been a fan of Janet Evanovich for many years - I discovered her books when I was about 11 - quite a young age to delve into her novels but I loved her and her characters. As expected, this kept me hooked from beginning to end.
Another Fox & O'Hare book?! YES!!! I love Nicolas and Kate, They're so perfect together but yet so different. Janet Evanovich has been one of my go to's for suspense, mystery with some romance added in. Plus I like that Kate is the FBI agent and Nick is the con artist. I don't think Kate would make the suave charming con as well as Nick seems to.

This is another great installment in a fun series. Again it provides interesting plots, lots of action and humor, globe-trotting, and a collection of fun supporting characters. And some sweet sexual tension between the two main characters. Yep, The Scam has all of the above. This time, Nick & Kate pursue their prey from Vegas to Hawaii to Macau. As usual, some plot points that require a bit of suspension of disbelief, but hey - that's what makes these books so much fun for me. And this one ended with a cliff-hanger that left me anxious to get on to the next one. When I'm in need of some light, fun reading, they're pretty much the perfect solution.

When Kate O’Hare is given her new assignment, she doesn’t even know where to start to take down big-time casino magnate Evan Trace. But Nicholas Fox does – because doesn’t he always know where to start the ultimate con? Their pursuit of the money laundering bad guy will take them from the beauty of Oahu to the exoticness of Macau and back. But will Kate manage to get her man? With Nick Fox by her side, she undoubtedly will.
Kate is such a fun character to mess with. Straight-laced and by the books, working with Nick Fox goes against everything she believes in. Not to mention the fact that she’s irresistibly attracted to the scoundrel. Her seesawing affections for him are a huge part of her charm as far as I’m concerned. She is sometimes the epitome of every woman in the world who has ever been attracted to that one guy we just know will be our undoing. For an FBI agent, she’s very relatable and vulnerable at times, too. I was so in love with Stephanie Plum when I started this series that I was afraid she’d be a poor copy of Steph. I am so happy that I was wrong in that fear. Kate is very much her own person and one that keeps getting more fun and interesting as time goes on.
Nick, on the other hand, is the guy your mother warned you about. He’s sweet, he’s charming, and he’s drop dead gorgeous. Oh, and he’s a criminal mastermind, just so you’re aware. His soft spot for Kate makes me all squishy inside. I have a weakness for bad boys who fall for good girls and Nick has definitely fallen for Kate. I worried at first that he was only after what she had to offer, so to speak, but as the series has gone on, you can see real affection or Kate in his words and actions… even if those actions land her in a skin tight bandage dress on occasion. Kate and Nick are total opposites and yet, the absolutely balance each other out in a wonderfully sweet and sexy way.
I know I’ve said this before, but I’ve been a huge fan of Janet Evanovich for many years. I really ought to send her a thank you note for introducing me to Lee Goldberg as well, because the combination of these two authors always results in something laugh out loud hysterical while still being sweet and exciting. I always know what I’m getting into whenever I pick up one of the Fox and O’Hare books, and I’m never disappointed. There is always a ton of excitement, a load of silliness, and a whole lot of smoldering between Nick and Kate. I couldn’t possibly ask for more in a feel-good book. Each installment in this series gets better and better and I can’t wait to see what kind of trouble these two – plus their crazy associates – get into next.
FBI Agent using a scam artist to con the cons while the rest of the world thinks she is out to arrest him.
Kate O'Hare and Nicholas Fox are back again. These two supposed enemies are again working together, this time to bring down dirty casino magnate Evan Trace. With their normal team, they have to run a scam that will topple Trace's empire.
This one is filled with the requisite fun, danger, and action. Any fan of the series should love this one!
I got this book free from NetGalley for an honest review and I am glad I did. Even though I read a lot I have never read a book by Janet Evanovich. I keep saying I will read one of her books and then another book catches my eye. So, by committing to writing a review, I finally read one. At first I wasn't sure I would like it, but the more I read the more engrossed I became to the point I couldn't put it down. The next 5 hours of my life was spent with Nick and Kate and the other characters in the book. It was an exciting time! Even the bad guys were entertaining! I loved the humor and the relationship between Kate and her father Jake was awesome. If only more real life relationships could be like theirs, minus the guns, of course!
The Scam by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg is classic Evanovich. Fast-paced, suspenseful, light and with lots of quirky characters. Really reminded me of vintage Stephanie Plum (who I adore!). Great chemistry w/ Nick and Kate, and I love the dialogue between them. This mystery was well-written, and I will definitely be reading more of the Fox and O'Hare series! A+
I tend to read Evanovich's books when I want something fun and not necessarily too "thinky." I've enjoyed her Plum books, and her characters are always entertaining: some people you would like to know personally that would cheer you up when you're having a bad day. This book kinda did the same for me. A little slow and weird in spots, but I did like Kate and Nick together. And the thriller portion was mild, but acceptable.
