Every since reading William Carlos Williams' "Paterson," I have been fascinated with his poetry. This collection, comprising poems all written before 1921, shows the origin of his style in his attention to the details of nature and objects and people, his humor, and his marvelous use of ordinary language at a time when this was just becoming the new style of poetry. These poems are accessible and are glimpses of the world from the eyes of a perceptive participant in it with a flair for expressing the wonders and irony around him in language. Highly recommended.
