Lucky Linus is about a fourteen year old black, gay foster kid named Linus Lightman. He's been through seven foster homes and some tough situations since being taken away from his mom when he was six. He tells his story very matter of factly.
He meets a boy named Kevin on a site for LGBTQ teens and the two start meeting up and hooking up. When a video of the them having sex is posted online, Linus fears he'll lose everything.
I feel like this book perpetuates the stereotypes that sexual assault victims and gay men are both promiscuous. I get what the author was trying to do with the story, but I don't think he really accomplished it. Yes, Linus ends up happy in the end, but some things were cleaned up a little too neatly. I really liked his foster parents though. They were kind, caring, understanding and supportive.
