100 Days of Happiness is a beautiful book written about a difficult, and possibly ugly, topic.
Fausto Brizzi created a very flawed character that the reader is still able to cheer for, even as he makes decisions that hurt those around him. And, as he goes through the last 100 days of his life, and as he attempts to redeem himself in the eyes of those closest to him while constantly getting closer to his self-imposed deadline, it is easy to feel for him and all that he is going through.
Dealing with the topics covered in this novel, it would be easy for the writing to become maudlin or depressing. But instead, there is humor and humanity that drives you along as those 100 days fly by on the page.
Brizzi's writing style sucks you in and makes you feel for each of the characters. And I look forward to reading more by him in the future.
