I am playing catch up on my TBR pile and wondering what took me so long and this one especially! Why did I wait so long to read this one! I LOVED IT! Dodge Loving was anything but loving when he found a greasy photographer outside the gates of The Retreat trying to get the first photo of Harper Connors. With the news he is just the first and there will be more he knows she has to go but when he tries to fire her Harper is not the meek and maleable woman she used to be, she is the "new" Harper and she not going anywhere. The sparks and chemistry these two generate it is a wonder they don't burn down The Retreat. Add in a mom with a matchmaker's zen, two younger brothers who will do anything to get under their older brother's skin, and an aging rock star fresh out of rehab and who knows what will happen. Will revenge ruin everything or will love finally win?

This is a great light read by author Avery Flynn!
This semi-enemies to lover romance features Dodge Loving, who is looking to exact revenge on the grandfather who disowned his mother, and Harper Conner who is trying to piece back her life together after being humiliated on national television by her ex-husband.
Harper is portrayed as a political princess – coming from a long line of family involved in politics, but she is an endearing character as she tries to forge her own path. Dodge runs his family’s luxury retreat, and desperately wants to solidify a deal that will allow their business to flourish, while decimating his grandfather’s rival business at the same time.
They were more suitably described as an opposites attract novel – which is different from an enemies to lovers trope. The character’s chemistry is red hot and well written by Flynn.
This was a short read but a good opposites attract example.

“Dodging Temptation” is the kind of romance I love - sexy, sweet, laugh out loud moments but with depth and layers and an amazing cast of characters. Really do love this Author and will be getting more books by her in the future. New and old ones :-)

Sometimes striving for revenge can blinker you to enjoying life’s opportunities. When he discovers a member of the paparazzi hiding he’s determined to get to the bottom of the problem, even if it means throwing out the young lady employed by his Mum to catalogue her rare cowboy diaries. That young lady is Harper Conner and she’s equally determined not to let the paparazzi know any more about her - she’s spent most of her life in the spotlight, doing what is expected of her by her high powered political family but she’s had enough of that life. Their initial meeting is hotly confrontational but that’s just the prelude to hot encounters of a totally different nature! Can she melt the CEO and show him how to live life to the full or will old habits and pressure prove too much for this couple?

This is another story by this talented author with feisty. provocative main characters, equally stubborn and determined to succeed against the odds. It is a steamy romance with sizzling hot attraction, a exclusive resort under siege from the paparazzi and revenge all playing significant roles in the plot which has elements of both suspense and humour in it, keeping the reader both entertained and enthralled. I enjoyed escaping into this story and have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone looking for a story where suppositions, accusations and feelings of betrayal as well as an ageing rock star all contribute to the developing romance. Seeing that this is the first in a series, published back in 2014, I was quite looking forward to reading about how Dodge’s Mum endeavoured to find love matches for his brothers but I can’t find any sequels - but I’ll keep on looking!

I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

Ever since he was 16 and found out his Grandfather exiled his mother from the family for falling in love with a black man and being pregnant with him he has wanted revenge. He and his Grandfather are in competition for the same investor and he is very close to reaching his goal but the last thing he needs to get is get distracted by Harper and the trouble she brings with her.

Harper was raised in a political family and all they ever wanted was for her to be the perfect media darling. When the end of her marriage starts a media frenzy she heads for Wyoming for two weeks to authenticate some books and start her life as the new Harper.

Unable to deny their attraction to each other a relationship ensues but when Harper’s attempt to help backfires will Dodge realize what is truly important or will she become a casualty in his plans for revenge?

This is a sexy story about new beginnings and finding out what is truly important in life. I would like to see Dodge’s brothers get their own stories. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Dodge Loving just wants to close the deal that will finally allow him his vengeance against his hateful, racist grandfather; the grandfather who disowned his mother for daring to fall in love with a black man. Dodge has made it his life's blood to take down his grandfather for throwing Dodge's mother out of his life. But, he can't do that if the paparazzi start stalking his luxurious resort that's a hideaway for the rich (and famous). So he needs to fire Harper Conner, stat; the woman who slapped her then cheating senator husband across the face and quickly divorced him. She brings in the dreaded paps now when an aging rockstar is hiding away from the world, and all that will do is make the chances of cutting his desperately needed deal narrow to zero.

Harper is no longer the woman to toe the line or kowtow to what others want for her. So when Dodge comes in and arrogantly tries to fire her, she's having none of it. Thank God only his mother can fire her, not Dodge. Now if the two could just keep their hands off each other as they try to tolerate each other's presence.

Dodge's mom, May, was a hoot. I loved her matchmaking efforts for her eldest son and Harper. Harper and Dodge shared a smokin' hot chemistry, but I have to admit I wanted a tad more relationship development between them before the inevitable grand gesture and short epilogue. Still, I enjoyed seeing them fall in love and am looking forward to Dodge's brothers' stories.

This just wasn't a book for me. I really tried. It wasn't keeping my attention. There wasn't enough character building., and I just couldn't get into the book.

I really enjoyed this book! It was a refreshing Romance read! Dodge and Harper have such great chemistry. It was a hot and steamy read! I can't wait to read the next book in the series!!!

Great story and kept me turning the pages into the night.
