It was an incredible read
I read it in a day

The essence of a kidnapping story is finding the basis by which you care for the characters. If a sense of loss or tension is not created then the progression of the narrative won't work. In "Passenger 19" [Ward Larsen/Oceanview/386pgs], everything seems to work well on all counts. This is helped by the character of Jammer Davis who, like someone like Dirk Pitt gets his humor right and could distinctly be made eventually into a franchise character on film. The basis of the story in "Passenger 19" is that our man Jammer is an airline crash investigator for the NTSB. When a plane goes mysteriously down in Colombia, he quickly realizes through his friend and sometimes employer at the CIA, that his daughter might be one of the victims. Jammer heads down south of the border but he begins to uncover details, especially being helped both by an unscheduled G3 flights and quick satellite photos, that makes him realize that something is going on behind the scenes. The structure of the book works well because it operates on the slow build so you realize what Jammer is doing. A lot of it is integrated on the details of the crash with Bogota as the backdrop. It all whittles down with a bit of humor which allows the progression to not become downtrodden. what tends to function best is that the action is punctuated and not without reason. There are also quick blips back to the U.S. for quick story points. This makes the story extremely filmable from an adaptation standpoint. The crux of most of the story lies in a why the plane was actually deliberately crashed in the first place. The reveal of those details actually works pretty well in that it involves a cover up and Secret Service protection. Eventually our hero becomes the focus of trying to be pushed off the investigation but it is his daughter at stake. And while that story point is the most cliche, it also makes the most logical sense. The final integration of some DEA guys to make the circle complete as they take on an isolated Colombian stronghold makes good logical sense and provides an adequate climax. Everybody gets what they want and even among the returning factors, Jammer gets a nice epilogue that solidifies the character. Despite the characterization being in the vein of a Bruce Willis or Wesley Snipes vehicle, it does qualify as good entertainment.

Fast paced, well-written and very interesting story. I would definitely recommend this one.
I requested this book not realizing it was part of a series, which was not clear on Netgalley site. Therefore I will save to read once I've read the first two. I am not going to rate it based on the fact I haven't read yet.
Enjoyed this book, but have never used a dictionary so much! Would recommend to friends and family as it is worth a read
Great read. Excellent thriller but what was most impressive was Mr. Larsen's knowledge of the subject matter.
Ward Larsen''s book [book:Passenger 19 is the 3rd book in the Jammer Series but reads as a perfect stand alone. This is the first book I have read by Larsen and from the very first page it moved at Mach 0.89. As a former Air Force fighter pilot, airline captain, and aircraft accident investigator, the author weaves his knowledge through the story of a plane crash creating authenticity and intrigue. Jammer, the main character, a former pilot and airplane accidents investigator is called to duty when a ARJ-35 has crashed off path in the Amazon in Columbia. A personal complication is that his daughter was on board. A political complication is that accident may be more of a crime scene versus an accident. In the mist of this duplicity lies the hope that Jammer’s daughter may still be alive...and a father's tenacity to find her. This book is so fluidly written that it was hard to put down. The author cultivates his scene with wit, sarcasm and poetry. I highly recommend this book. And I will continue to explore the Jammer series.
Quite a gripping story with some good twists along the way.
A heart pounding, edge of your seat, don't put down read involving a commuter jet crash in the jungle in Columbia with no survivors (apparently). When Jammer Davis, a long time aircraft accident investigator finds his daughter listed on the manifest he jumps into action to get to the cause of the crash but everything is not as it seems. Why were both pilots and one other person shot before the crash and why are two passengers missing and accounted for? Is this a hijacking or does this go much higher into government business? Great storyline-tight concise writing. Great read!
I am so glad I was given the opportunity to read and review this great book! This was a fast-paced, action-packed thriller with a creative storyline I never saw coming! Just a great story from beginning to end with many wonderful characters! I highly recommend this book!
Fast paced thriller about an aircraft crash investigator who is dispatched to Colombia to look into the disappearance of a small jet. Apart from the difficulty of locating a missing jet in the mountains covered in dense forest, lhis task is complicated by the fact that his teenage daughter appears on the passenger manifest. Needless to say, our hero comes up against corrupt beurocrats, crooked cops and random drug dealers, all of whom are dealt with in summary fashion.
The first three quarters of the book are particularly impressive and the author reveals his expertise in the technicalities of aircraft and their failings whilst keeping the story racing along at breakneck pace. The last part strays into Jack Reacher territory and our hero proves equally indestructible and, whilst credulity is stretched to breaking point, the conclusion is undeniably exciting.
A very good read and an ideal book to while away a few hours, especially if you're traveling by air.
Ward Larsen's assassins novels have entertained me, but I almost passed on Passenger 19 since it was not in that line of topic. But I gave in and am so happy I did. Passenger 19 is a very enjoyable read, well-paced, interesting characters, and a good plot. It's funny, too. SO thanks to Net galley and Oceanview Publishing for letting me read this book.
I very suspenseful book- could not put it down. Characters very well developed- I could hear their voices!
This is an excellent, fast-paced, gripping suspense/adventure novel. Jammer Davis, an aircraft disaster investigator, is permitted by an old friend to join the investigation into a small aircraft crash in Columbia. "Permitted" is a relative term because Jammer has a personal interest in this case, his daughter, headed for a semester abroad, was aboard the plane, and nothing/no one can keep him away. The details of air-craft disaster investigation are fascinating, and Jammer's attempts to keep himself in check and remain professional while his anxiety about his daughter is sky-high are admirable and very believable. Davis quickly learns that things are not what they seem to be, and that the US government as well as several Columbian agencies are involved as well. Larsen fills the story with twists, turns and surprises until the satisfying end.
I enjoyed this book so much that I look forward to reading Larsen's previous works. Many thanks to NetGalley, the author, and Oceanview Publishing for giving me a chance to read and review this fine book!
