Read this a couple of years ago and guess I forgot to add thoughts here. I don't remember much except that the MC's father dies and she takes over his glass shop and someone else dies and she thinks it's all suspicious so she decides to figure out what happened. I remember not being a huge fan of it but it was okay.
I love cozy mysteries and this was no different. It was very enjoyable and kept me wanting to read more and more. Excellent!

In Pane and Suffering by Cheryl Hollon the First book in the A Webb's Glass Shop mystery series Savannah Webb comes back to St Petersburg Florida to run her father's glass shop after his sudden death only to find her father's friend Hugh Trevor dead of a heart attack. Savannah thinks that the two deaths from the same thing is worth investigating. The police however do not.
They think that both deaths are from natural causes and do not want to investigate farther. So Savannah takes it upon herself to solve the mystery. But can she solve it before she becomes the next victim.
I enjoyed this cozy mystery that introduced me to the world of glass making as well as an adorable puppy as well and a British guy whos trying to make a goal of a pub in St. Petersburg Florida. This cozy was a little on the slow side than most but I think that was because it was trying to set up the setting for future books in the series. I do look forward to reading more books in this series.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.
This is my first book by this author, and while it took a bit to warm up to some of the characters, it was a very good book. Set in Florida, Savannah takes over her late father's glass works shop. The descriptions on that were so good now I want to try my hand at it. Good mystery, an all around pleasant read. Will be buying the next in the series.
This cozy has a charming premise, a mystery in a glass shop, but it falls rather flat. I liked Jacob, the character with aspergers, the process of glass working, and the concept of ciphers--but that's it. Perhaps the characters and the mystery felt too bland, too boring? There was some excitement in the final moments of the novel between the main character and the villain. I didn't care by that point.
I love a cozy but this wasn't for me. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy.
Pane and Suffering by Cheryl Hollon is the first book in the Webb's Glass Shop Mystery series. I actually read this series out of order, reading the second book in the series first and then because I enjoyed it so much I went back and read the first. :-)
Savannah returns home to St. Petersburg, Florida after the death of her father. Unfortunately, in addition to sorting out his affairs she also must solve a murder! Pane and Suffering is written in a traditional cozy format, which is my favorite genre. It was a very enjoyable read, and kept me entertained (and guessing!) until the end. I very highly recommend this series!
