This is such a fun, sexy series. Joanna Wylde writes the perfect motorcycle men. Dangerous and sexy, but not mean. And her women are tough and sexy, too. Great series!
I read this title when it first came out and it solidified my love for Joanna Wylde. She has such a way of pulling readers in and giving them this world filled with chaos, drama, and alpha males on motorcycles. This book is Painter's story but I feel as if Wylde gives so much more of the club in general in Reaper's Fall. We get real glimpses into this club and it made me fall in love with them even more.
This book is a hard one to read because of all the emotions circling Painter and his relationship with Mel. It isn't pretty but Wylde made it real...relatable...and this is what really pulls you in. You feel as they feel and man, oh man it's crazy good.
Overall, I loved the storyline and where Wylde is taking this series. The characters were easy to love and addicting. The plot fit Painter and Mel and they made it work.
I wasn't sure Joanna Wylde would be able to match my love of Picnic, but she did it with Painter. I feel Painter’s story is a little more New Adult, but still just as raw as the rest of the Reaper’s stories. I loved the letter writing aspect of their relationship and the dual POV really enhanced the story. I liked hearing the reasons Painter was using to refuse to be anything more than friends in the beginning, but then also seeing what dirty things Painter was thinking about as he fought his attraction and love for Melanie. Then, Melanie, who he thinks is Little Miss Innocent, has just as many dirty thoughts about Painter and we also see how much she hates being just friends. This is by far the funniest Reaper's story to date, but don't worry, plenty (PLENTY) of alpha male chest beating and claims of "MINE" can be found within these pages. Just how we like 'em.
This is Painter and Melanie's story. I've been anticipating Painter's story for some time now. Since his "run-ins" with Em and Jess. And Mellie (Melanie)-we got some of her back story in previous installments, although I was hoping for more history in regards to her parents. But with this, we got more on Mellie's current "family", those who've been there for her and supported her. Painter is no prude as he's known with the ladies...with a bad rep. He doesn't spend time with those he thinks are worth it. I liked the letters in this installment and the presence of Izzy. She brought joy and hope to Painter and Mellie's story. The red paint scene was everything. Perfect for them and hilarious when Reese and London shows up. The club/family feel is comforting and I like the lesson of putting priorities where they belong. What I began noticing, is the pattern and predictability in the Reapers MC books. This demonized the angst factor for me (after the first two books), and angst is what I thrive on. I enjoyed this installment, that was a quick read for me. I kept reading because I wanted to know how Melanie would step up, let go, and let be.
This has been my least favorite Reaper book to date. I won't sit here and bash the book like some might but I will say that I am disappointed in how this one was handled and the direction Ms. Wylde took Painter. It just didn't work for me and I miss the way the series was at the beginning.
