Focusing on the Twelfth Doctor, this engaging tale is one of my favorite in the Doctor Who universe, riffing comfortably on the shapeshifting aspects of The Doctor, and his traveling back and forth across Time and Space. Probably I've enjoyed this story so much because a series of missteps creates a meeting of "present Selves" and "future Selves" and the potentialized total unraveling of the Universe, Space, and Time. I also enjoyed the catchy writing and intermittent snark.

Fans of the classic BBC science fiction show Doctor Who need to wait until 2020 for new episodes. But in the meantime, some solid Doctor Who spinoff novels will get you through until Thirteen, Yaz, Ryan and Graham continue their adventures. The licensed spinoff novella Big Bang Generation, featuring the Twelfth Doctor, and Molten Heart, featuring Thirteen. stand out as solid, short Doctor Who adventures. Like a good episode of the show, these feature familiar, optimistic characters in consistently bizarre worlds. Plus you’re being an intellectual for reading novels instead of rewatching old episodes.
