I read one of the books in this series a wee while ago and loved it and when I was scrolling and tidying up my kindle, I came across this one. Lately, I have struggled with romance reads as just found them blah and not grabbing me. However, the thing with this series was it was so easy to read and the characters were all likable and I got such a good strong friendship to feel with this book, and even the guy who should have been fighting for his job was genuinely nice and cared for his opponent as he knew she should be given a fair chance as they were both as good as each other. She was his perfect match. Take a step back and we meet Cole Sharpe, who has been a freelance writer for the sports section of Oxford Magazine. The magazine has decided to take the Sports section and grow it. Cole should have been a shoo-in but Alex Cassidy has other plans to enter Penelope Pope who has just moved to New York and is just as great as Cole. Penelope isn't normally Cole's type but he is drawn to her, Cole hasn't been the type to settle down but Penelope is more a forever girl. When they both get the position, can they make an office and personal romance work? What happens though when Cole feels he is forced to choose between family and romance when a tragedy occurs with his brother Bobby? If you love magazines, journalism, sports, friendships, and a strong romance story not OTT with sex then Irresistibly Yours ticks all the boxes.
Loved this sports-themed romance! It had just the right amount of romance, comedy, and tension. Looking forward to finishing up the rest of the series.
I requested this one back in the day as I had every intention of reading it. However, its been years and I still haven't gotten around to it and while I feel guilty at not reviewing a book I think that I need to admit to myself that I won't be reading this one anytime soon....if at all.
First book for Oxford series. This could be stand alone.
Cole, a freelancer sports writer and Penelope, sports writer from Chicago are aiming for the same job at Oxford magazine. They were both talented writers and they were both sure they would get the job. Until Cole sees Penelope away from the office. She is nothing like other women. She is knows all the sports stats and plays and easy to talk to. Now Cole is worried he might not get the job as easily as he thought.
Cole and Penelope enjoys each other's company and his friends at Oxford magazine is pushing them together ever since most of his friends are paired up. Both are not sure if they can keep the work and their attraction separate.
Now they have to find their way. Will both open up to each other or they will keep as coworkers??
It was fun read. I really enjoyed reading this series. I can't wait to dive into the next series.
All the characters were fun and banters were great.

This is a spin-off of the Stiletto series. I liked it.
Cole is a freelancer for Oxford mens magazine, but is now looking to get the job as Senior Sports Editor. He thinks he has it in the bag, not only because he's been freelancing for a long time, but because, Alex Cassidy - the Editor of the Magazine, is one of his best friends. He learns the job isn't in the bag when he's informed that there is another candidate.
Cole shows up to the baseball game company box looking for his competition when he spies, girl-next-door, boy shaped, Penelope "Penny" Pope. Cole can't take his eyes off her, and can't understand why he's so drawn to her, since she's so different from the women he's normally attracted to.
Once he finds out that Penny is his competition for the job, he doesn't go after her like he was planning on going after his competition. In fact, he can't help but to be a complete gentleman. When she spills coffee on herself, he takes her to the Stiletto offices so the women can help with her clothing. He even goes out with her for a drink to give her insight about Oxford, where they agree to continue to be friends, no matter who gets the job.
Penny, moved to New York after she discovered her friend and unrequited love interest, Evan, not only had a girlfriend, but used the portfolio she put together to get a job for his own purposes and got the job over her.
Penny doesn't believe that she has what it takes to be attractive to someone like Cole, so she puts him in the friend zone before he can even ask her out. But once they start a friends-with-benefits relationship, they both have to get over the emotional obstacles that are getting in their way to find what they need in each other.
This was cute and nice. More of a palate cleanser type book for me. If you've read something overly emotional and want to get over the hang0ver, read this book/series.
I was in the mood for laugh out loud. This was sweet, but not that. So I'm moving on for now from the series, but will definitely come back to finish it as I'm SOOOOO curious about Lincoln Mathis' story.
Irresistibly Yours by Lauren Layne is an Oxford series novel. It was well written and kept my interest throughout the story. This story is about two sports editors, who are applying for the same job. Cole and Penelope both feel they are right for the job. The sparks start flying between these two as the story progresses due to them both vying for the job. These characters worked well together and as the story progressed I enjoyed it even more. I look forward to reading more stories by Lauren Layne.
