I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.
When I read this synopsis, I felt like this was going to be a fantastic story. A nerdy fighter? I mean come on, that sounds sexy. But in all honesty, Enzo wasn't really either of those to me. He is a rich, peppy snob for most of the book. Also thinking and talking about money. He was more worried about getting his $100 pants dirty when sitting in the grass...
Now he got better the longer he was around JL, but he had a stick so far up his ass it was a miracle he got it out.
I really like JL. She's had a rough past, but she hasn't let that make her negative about life. I like how she loosened Enzo a lot, and I love how she was always helping everyone around her.
Overall, I enjoyed this novel!
I have read many of Sidney Halston’s books and I love them all. With each book you get brought back to the MMA world of sexy, strong fighters and their significant others. The fighters from the first 4 books in this series make appearances and the reader gets to catch up on what they have been up to.
The best part of the romance is this book is how different the two characters are. You have rich, successful, and powerful Enzo. He is use to getting what he wants and everyone falling into line for him. JL (Jamie Lynn) is rough, tough, and in your face bold. They say opposites attract and this book proves that this is true.
While the romance and relationship is the important part of the story, I loved the other friendships. Penny and JL are co-workers who are becoming friends. They start to share each other’s secrets and provide support only a girlfriend can. I also loved Travis and JL’s sibling relationship. The fact that they are twins just makes the relationship even more special. Enzo also was able to open his eyes to new friendships and learn how to relax.
I recommend checking out this series. Each book can be read as a stand-a-lone, yet if you read them in order you get glimpses into the lives of other characters. I cannot wait for Travis’ story.
It's not like me to start with the fifth book in a series, but I thought "series of standalones" and grabbed it.
I'm not disappointed. Sidney Halston weaves the story of Enzo and Jamie Lynn wonderfully. Enzo is fresh off a divorce. Jamie Lynn is the care-free bartender he's had his eye on for a year.
When things finally fall into place for these two, sparks fly! Jamie Lynn is the crazy to Enzo's sanity. They complement each other very well. Explosively well.
I want to go back and read the previous four books. I'm also hoping I get a book for Travis and Penny. That's a story waiting to happen (I'm assuming it doesn't already exist based on their interaction in this book).
Another new-to-me author in the books for 2018.
I enjoyed this story of Enzo and Jamie Lynn. Both were great characters, Enzo a banker by day and budding cage fighter by night. Jamie Lynn is a guarded woman who doesn't let her walls down. Enzo tempts her to do just that.
Watching the relationship develop between these two was fun. The storyline was fast paced and kept my attention and I liked the backdrop of the MMA world.
This is book 5 of the worth the fight series an would recommend reading them in order to get the full story of this series. As they flow into each other you get to enjoy all the characters an catch up on things an find out more for future books. Loved the book an series so far an would recommend to everyone
Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.
Enzo and JL...just mismatched enough to work or not enough in common to survive? To be honest, I wasn't sure if things were going to work out and if it hadn't been for the unexpected surprise, I don't know that I would see them staying together. Maybe if we got to see a little bit of their lives after Enzo stopped working for his father, but the way it was, it felt like he was going to be in a weird space of having everything taken from him. And JL was interesting. Did we ever find out what the scar on her back was from or why her tattoos were only on her right side? Honestly, I don't remember because I was having a hard time engaging with the characters.
I am very interested to read Travis and Penny's story though...I think that's gonna be a good one.
