.5 Stars! Over the past year and a half, I've fallen hard for Jessica Lemmon and the wonderful cast of characters she's given us. Her new Lost Boys series continues that tradition and introduces a whole new group of people to love.

I really enjoyed this book, meeting a new group of characters, and the story line. That said, Rena was only an okay heroine for me. I loved her bit of sass and the fact she didn't immediately balk at Devlin trying to push her away. My problem came when she didn't show a bit more strength at resisting him. It seemed she always caved, and embarrassingly fast, at that. It was the same with the situation with Roy and Baron. She let them decide who she could and couldn't see. Now, I see that as them trying to protect her, but I don't feel they had that close of a relationship. I also felt Rena didn't have the growth I was looking for. For one, she didn't have a plan for her life. Did she intend to waitress or cashier forever? I know that's okay for some. No judgement, but it was mentioned she sketched. I was hoping something would come of that, kind of give her a purpose. The biggest issue for me, though was Joshua. I don't truly feel she got over his death and the trauma in any tangible way, that we saw. To me, she went from being shattered by Joshua's death and the part she played, to being dependent on Devlin. Jessica Lemmon has a knack for writing heroes I fall hard for, and Devlin was a great hero. I felt his personal growth was evident and we got to see how much he changed for the better. His childhood was tragic and heartbreaking, and although he never broke ties with the lifestyle that destroyed his father, he didn't fall completely into that abyss. I loved that he was willing to change his life for Rena, for their future. Now, I wanted to slap him a bit when he thought he was doing what was best for Rena, but it was understandable. I enjoyed meeting the new characters in the series. Cade may give me fits in the next book. He seems a bit too arrogant for my liking. Tasha promises to be an interesting heroine, too. Overall, it was a nice read. It kept me entertained. I'm looking forward to future works by this author. <3

I was expecting much more than what I got with this one, that's why when I recommend books I hold my breath they like it, we all have different ways of reading a book [if you know what I mean] so my expectations were higher than what was delivered, now, that is not the books fault, its entirely mine.

This was my first book by Jessica Lemmon, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I liked the two main characters, Devlin and Rena, and enjoyed reading about their developing relationship. I felt for what they had both experience in their pasts, and wanted them to overcome all of that. The chemistry between them was good.

The storyline held my attention and I'm looking forward to more by the author.

I really couldn't connect with the characters. I felt like this book was all about the sex and very little about the actual story. The ending felt a bit rushed and I felt there was enough drama without a rushed breakup in there but oh well. Not for me.

I enjoyed the setting and premise of the story. There still aren't too many books that I have come across with illegal gambling, so definitely a bonus there. The characters in the story could use a little shaping though. There is some annoying repetition with the characters and the maturity of the characters didn't fit the story well enough, which made it hard to fall in love with Devlin and Rena. I'd love to see where this series goes and I'm looking forward to checking out more from this author.

Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

This book has a lot going for it -intrigue, heat, drama - but it fell just shy of getting that fourth star because I think Lemmon tried to put too much in. For starters, I get that Tasha will probably be the next book, but her relationship/interactions with Tony and Cade were hard to follow and felt like they came out of nowhere.

Also, the end felt rushed and I couldn't keep up with what was happening. What role did Baron play? How was Sonny involved? What exactly happened to Cade? There was a lot that I couldn't keep track of.

The heart of the story though, Devlin and Rena, were great. Their relationship was spot on. It wasn't perfect, but it was real and I think that's what kept me reading this book.
