Once again this was a bit too rom-com for me, but I can see how other readers might enjoy it. I liked how the hero was a little morally grey, while the heroine's naivete was annoying at times

Been going through my old netgalley requests and seeing what I have forgotten to give a review to and what I still need to read. I don't recall requesting this book or why and reading the synopsis present me doesn't have the same interest in this title as past me did.

Hot cars. Hot guys. It's time to live on the edge and do the unexpected. This fast paced, steamy read has action, heat and will keep you on the edge of your seat. Lucky for you reader there are books from this author to dive into.

Loved this book so much. So many events. Feel good moments, alpha, swoon worthy, witty, heartbreaking, and humor throughout. I loved the characters, how they became a family. Their trust and loyalty. I’m looking forward to more of their story in Burnout.

I was excited at the romance aspect of the story, however, hesitant at the crime/drama aspect. Usually, I don't read that many books with crime in them, as I have yet to been blown away by one.

Anyway...
Nic is the local bad guy. Been to jail, run a business, become famous, etc. Most people would take this to mean he learned his lesson and is on the straight path since being released. Well.....is anything ever that easy? Maybe...but for Nic, his life on the straight path is going to go a little sideways. A dirty cop is about to change is life in more than one way. Not only is he about to do something illegal, but it also brings him to meet the woman he loves.

Then you have Jordan looking to have a new start in life. She wasn't planning to have her car stolen, catch the guy doing it and then being kidnapped by him. Then to fall in love with Nic after trying to avoid men? Yep, she didn't plan that either. But she Nic flow together so well, she couldn't help but fall for him.

This is finally a book with crime that didn't let me down. The crime was there but it didn't over power the characters and their own story which I loved. Both Nic and Jordan were easy to like and while you could see they were meant to fall in love, it was still a great storyline leading up to it.

ACCELERATE - Tracy Wolff

#1 in the Hotwired romance series

HOT CARS and HOT CHEMISTRY - 3 stars

Plot - 3 stars - Nic loves cars and is a drag-racing star. He's also an ex-con who is coerced by a bad cop into getting back into stealing cars. When Jordan's car (and Jordan) get caught up in the heist, she finds herself involved with Nic, his business, and his family/friends.

Writing - 3 stars - Wolff has a way of drawing the reader into the story right from the beginning. She started with an exciting scene, then built her characters and their backstories from that. In this case, the story started out very exciting, but unfortunately it got bogged down in the middle and stopped its quick forward motion. Again, the first sex scene between Jordan and Nic started out steamy hot, but it dragged on too long and lost some of its heat. Enough already.

Characters - 3 stars - Nic is the tortured hero--an ex-con who is harassed by a bad cop into going back to his bad ways. He's always trying to do the right thing, but is thwarted despite his best efforts. He's the guy who tries to take care of everyone, even to his own detriment, which is why he's gotten into this situation in the first place. But, boy, is he hot-headed. He thinks in such a dramatic manner--I've got to get Jordan to safety at 100 mph, I wish I could punch out everyone near her, I have to solve everyone's problems--right now! And he drives like a maniac--I really don't think he'd be driving like that all over the city without several people calling the police or at least videoing him and putting it up on line. And that's the last thing he should want. I was shaking my head a lot with Nic. And Jordan, with a big secret in her past, is attracted to Nic, despite his bad-boy reputation. I like that she holds her own with him--their sarcastic wisecracks with each other are amusing. She's got definite issues, but she has a goal of working hard, going to school, and succeeding despite her hard breaks. She seems a lot more level-headed, and really a lot more realistic.

Title - 4 stars - Good title that promises something fast and exciting, while suggesting that the subject is cars and racing and speed.

Cover - 3 stars - Typical cover for this genre. Nothing exciting or to draw the eye. Some sort of car or other indication of racing would have added visual interest.

Overview - 3 stars - An enjoyable but rather ho-hum romance. I'm afraid that there aren't any more books in this series yet, although I would have enjoyed getting to know others on Nic's automotive team. I would have enjoyed this book more if there had been more racing, more competition. Instead it sort of decelerated and settled down into an evaluation of Jordan's PTSD and a lot of time was spent discussing Nic's need to fix everything. While some of that information was needed to create and build their back stories, it seemed to go on for far too long and my interest dwindled. Even the hot sex scene went on for too long and lost some steaminess. All this being said, I'm a fan of this author and will definitely continue to read her books.

This was a great start to a new series, and I am avidly looking forward to the next one! Nic and Jordan made great main characters and I loved reading about their developing romance. There was plenty of sizzle between the two, as well as sweet, tender feelings. The storyline captured me right away and kept me intrigued. There was plenty of action in this fast paced story. I was sorry to have the story end!

This book surprised me. I was unsure if I was going to like it when I first started it. I think it was the drag racing scene that made me question if I was going to be able to enjoy the book. Once I got into the story I loved it! The story line moves quick. The whole book takes place over a few days. And leads right into the next book.

I loved all the characters, they are one large family. They all have their issues but have each others back. Jordan fit in with the group perfectly. Jordan and Nic meet when Nic steals her car and she refuses to let him drive away. It was rather an amusing, yet scary scene for a first meeting. Jordan quickly puts together what is happening and jumps right into join the group and see how to fix whatever is happening.

There was a lot of action in this book. Every moment kept me on my toes. I am looking forward to reading the next book!
