The Story in 4 Sentences or Less: Police diver Debbie Renaud admires her partner Allan Rappaport’s work as a SEAL, and she thinks he’s pretty hot too, a feeling Allan reciprocates only there’s one problem. He’s a wolf shifter and when Debbie gets in between a werewolf hunter and his victim, Allan doesn’t have much of a choice but to tell her the truth.
Like It? Hate it? Love it? Why? This is my first experience with Terry Spear and I’m definitely going to pick up another of her books in the future. The plot was interesting, the pacing was easy to get into and I liked both Allen and Debbie.
Just not as a couple.
Don’t get me wrong, both characters are great. They’re smart, fun, charming, and surprisingly relatable. However they had more of a “friends” vibe than a romantic one going between them. They worked well together as partners and definitely as friends but any kind of scene that was meant to be passionate or romantic between them felt a tad forced and unnatural. Or maybe it could have been that the romantic part of Allan and Debbie’s relationship didn’t get a chance to grow and change and that’s why it didn’t feel realistic enough to me.
Whatever the reason, SEAL Wolf in Too Deep was less of a romance and more of a paranormal adventure to me. And it was still enjoyable!
Click It or Skip It? Click It. Despite the romance fail, this book is still enjoyable enough as a paranormal adventure. I’m definitely going to start the series from the beginning.

Allan is a contract diver for the police department and since they are in Montana they dive in terrible winter weather. That wasn’t as much of a problem when his entire team were wolf shifters like himself but things have changed and now his partner is a human woman. Not only that, Allan is very attracted to her. It is OK for wolves to mate with humans but the fact that Debbie is Allan’s work partner complicates things and he at first believes he must not have anything romantic to do with her.
Debbie is also a contract diver for the police department. She and her new partner, Allan, have been assigned to try to bring up evidence from the bottom of a frozen lake that will help the police identify who murdered a man found dead in his car. Debbie doesn’t believe in werewolves. Or at least she didn’t until she saw with her own eyes an injured wolf turn into a human.
I love this series. For one reason, each book has information brought forward from previous books, but each book can stand alone, too. The excitement in this book kept me up all night and I loved every page of the story. Loads of fun to read and try to anticipate what’s going to happen next.
