For those who are new to this series, The Perfect Gentlemen were introduced in Scandal Never Sleeps - a group of friends who met at a boarding school, and have been a tight group of friends ever since - so when one of them is killed, all of them band together to solve the mystery and realise that the mystery is so deeply embroiled that it will take a lot to actually get to the bottom of the scandal (and maybe just find their own happily ever afters?).

“You don’t even like me. You’ve said it.”

"When did I say that? Did I say that when I kissed you? When I picked you up and carried you to bed? When I tricked my way into sleeping beside you?”

“I’m a man, Lara. I’m a one hundred percent testosterone-laden Neanderthal. You can’t judge us on our words. We’re not good with those. You have to look at our actions.”
This second book is the one about the misfit in the band of misfits! Connor was the scholarship student at Creighton Academy – and though he absolutely loves his brothers, the friends he has made at the academy, he still feels the odd one out.

So when the chance came to be a part of something great (read: CIA), he jumped at it, because he honestly believed that it was the best offer he could ever get and for the last decade of his life, he has done nothing but covert operations. And while he may have wanted to let go of his friendship, his brotherhood – the others weren’t exactly okay with that!

And since he would do everything in his power to figure out the scandal that involves the President of the United States of America aka one of his brothers, going undercover to get close to the owner of tabloid blog isn’t exactly a hardship.

“I am a ruthless bastard, but if you let me, I’ll be your ruthless bastard.”

Lara Armstrong is the daughter of a Senator and someone who goes and exposes a lot of dirty secrets online and she has the partial proof about the President that Connor desperately needs to know. Lara and Connor weren’t looking for love but amidst bullets and spies, they found exactly that.

Connor is a man who tired of being cynical – oh I know he doesn’t come off as that way, but he really is and it shows! He wants something more from his life but isn’t sure where to start. He really is one of the good guys, even if CIA has tried so damn hard for him not be.

Lara is a little harder to like or rather she takes a bit of time to get used – she is one of those propaganda popping, moralistic females who looks down upon others for not following the regime strictly as she dows at first glance. But she is so much more than that – she is a breath of fresh air, someone who still believes in terms like Loyalty, faith and trust and she thus, becomes someone who is the opposite of everything Connor is, and yet absolutely perfect for him!

“This is a three-thousand-dollar suit.” Lara whirled on Roman. “Do you know how many hungry children that suit could feed?”

Roman put a hand on his suit as though protecting the precious material from Lara. “Um, none. They would likely get very sick if they ate this suit. Children aren’t supposed to eat wool.”

I have recently encountered Lexi Blake, but Shayla Black is absolutely new to me. And while I have loved Lexi’s writing style and the way she incorporates mystery and romance into her plots but damn Shayla and Lexi’s combination is one that has me absolutely obsessed.

Everything from their writing and the characters that they have woven together is on point and I am in love with the series! How can you not be? You have friendships, espionage, spies, a secret that has takn more lives and is buried deep enough that I don’t even think that even Lexi and Shayla know where it is going to go!

At times it feels like it would have been better if I had actually gotten to this series after it had been finished – because the wait for the next book is agonizing! And that’s how you know you have found some really good authors to latch on to :P

"Screw the world. I need you. I need you to be Lara, to find it in your heart to forgive a man who lied to you, who betrayed you, and who will spend the rest of his life loving you completely.”,/b>

I re-read Seduction in session while I was preparing for "At the pleasure of the president" and I am equally satisfied as I was the first time I read it. The authors did a great job with the book and I liked the MCs. Lara sometimes came off as naive, but she is mostly a badass who is trying to discover some of the secrets people in important positions were trying to bury. The pace of the story was good and I was a little shocked by one of the bombs the authors dropped on us, which changed a lot about what we knew and how the characters saw things. I found the book to be a good addition to the series and it was interesting enough. I loved how protective Connor was and how he was treating Lara after the truth was out. I am not a big fan of lying, but in this case it wasn't that bad because Connor was on a mission. The book was good and I would recommend it. It's not a stand-alone and I wouldn't recommend reading it without having read book 1.
