I think this book does not quite live up to the "suspense'" label. Full of characters, that at least for me, are hard to relate to. However, I think that may be because I am an adult. As a teen I might not have an issue with the actions (drinking, pirating (stealing), etc. I think author Evans had very strong plot points in mind with weighty issues (alcoholism. objectification, abuse. etc.), I am just not sure he pulls them off well enough for me to give this title anything more than an average rating.
