A brilliantly funny and violent splash of female power. This has become a cult hit and a favourite almond comic fans. I thought it was a total blast from start to finish. What a book.

This is more of a visual-, character- and idea-feast than where you go to get the best plot, but I've always felt that way about DeConnick. A good start to what I hope will be a strong title.

Holly cow. The Hunger Games meets Orange Is The New Black. This was so good. The art work was awesome, the plot is kick ass. So much girl power in the face of absolute misogyny. Excited to pick up vol. 2

**I received a review copy from Netgalley and the publishers in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

An excellent series set in a world where are treated as second class citizens and are sent away to prison on another planet just because they are not wanted anymore or considered too uppity. The are made to compete solely for entertainment value. Excellent series!

This book was a great mash-up of 70's movies and modern dystopias. I loved the art so much and the characters were compelling.

I liked this but it might not be a good fit for our library. The age group I currently serve this title would be to mature. I will recommend but not purchase.

I received a digital copy of this from NetGalley before it released, but I waited too long to access it, and it was no longer available. Happily, my library system had purchased it, so I can review it!

This is a gritty, dark, dystopian take feminism. Female prisoners in the future join the prison's sport team, where they practice and scrimmage against each other, and then eventually the guards (which turns very ugly). We get to know a bit about each of the prisoners/players, and it's easy to cheer for them while they kick ass, or even just plan to kick ass.

I was a bit confused in the beginning, but by the end (which stops at Bitch Planet #5), I had gained a better understanding of what was going on. The artwork is clear and appropriately reflects the atmosphere of the comic. Each issue stopped at just the right place to leave me wanting more, without feeling frustrated. I particularly enjoyed the old-school style 'ads' each issue featured, which seemed based on the old "X-Ray Specs" ads and the ones where the bully kicks sand in the puny guy's face, but then he buffs up and takes him on. I fondly remember them from when I read comics as a kid, and it was neat to see something like that again. I'm curious if they really are selling what they say they are.

I've been a big fan of this comic since the first issue so it was great to be able to read it as a collection. I can't wait to read more.

Very good book, with painfully current undertones. My biggest issue is that the schedule is very slow, I want the new volumes faster!
