If anyone’s a mom or have been bringing up children with a husband/father that works long hours, you may relate to this!
It’s hard work raising children and it’s constant. It’s rewarding too of course!
But fretting, Childrens tantrums arguments and constant demands can get a mom pulling her hair out and wanting to run away. For most, they don’t leave though! And they love and adore their kids desperately despite all of this.
But this mom hasn’t been truthful. She harbours secrets from her past that domino affects on herself as a parent, as a person, as a human being and most definitely as a woman.
She needs to return to where she was raised.
I did enjoy this book and in some parts I can relate when my children were young.
However, I don’t think I have any disturbing secrets!
If you like books based around secrets, family life and anything I’ve mentioned in my review then I’d say, yep pick it up.
If this was a book about tired, flustered mother of three trying to keep things and herself together, I would enjoy this novel. But there are two lines in the drama - the domestic life and the past secrets life who resurfaces in the now - and these two plotlines do not just connect believably. Wealthy, successful actress-turned-mama story is fun and light - but the past-burdened and weak-willed Felicia from the past and present is not her.
The characters never learn, never grow up and just find reasons to never reflect on themselves.
So I do not pity the poor Felicia, I feel the need to send her to the good psychiatrist to have a therapy to solve all the unsolved mess! This is not an insult, but an honest wish for anybody so much bottling up their mess, bottling up their wrongdoings and their true personality. Because to change things, one should really look deep into the mirror to see the true themselves and to learn to know, forgive and love the said themselves.
And don't let me start on men here! Martin is a trash and should stay behind the bars, fullstop. And Preston? The guy is not ideal, hot husband. He is a jealous, insecure weakling.
And why are we not even speaking about the statutory rape here???
I enjoyed this book. The main character is completely relatable.
This book is well written and the flow of the story is effortless. I felt that the characters were well developed and believable. I would definitely recommend this book to friends and family. The author has a good grasp on the plotline and where she wanted the story to go. This book is full of warmth and relatable truths. The author has a way of stirring up your emotions. I felt what the characters felt. I felt her frustration , her anxiety and her fear. Highly recommended read.
