The Infamous Heir, the first book in Elizabeth Michels' Spare Heirs series, demonstrates that sometimes opposites can compliment each other when on common ground. Suspense and danger interrupt the seemingly well mapped out lives of the hero and heroine in this nicely written work. As attraction overwhelms childhood friends they battle the unavoidable and the ulterior motives of people out to eliminated them. Love and schemes take readers on an adeptly plotted story. Ms. Michels presents a well researched and thoughtful tale that will resonate with an audience that enjoys the combination of mystery and romance!

This book in the first in the Spare Heirs series. I must say it was a tale that sparked my interest from the beginning. From the start you see the sparks between Ethan and Roselyn. While they grew up together Ethan has been gone for 8 years and while he was away the fun and adventurous Roselyn slowly changed into the stern lady that he meets again on the first day of a house party celebrating his return. But it does not take long for Ethan to make her loose her cool. The only problem is Roselyn is all but engaged to his brother and is out of his reach.
Roselyn is drawn to Ethan. But he brings out the worse traits in her. She is no longer the young girl who runs wild across the moors. She is going to be the next Lady Ayton. So why is she longing for him and not his brother?
When tragedy strikes both are left trying to pick up the pieces. But can Ethan change her unfounded opinion of him, and can Roselyn get past her guilt? Great novel, looking forward to reading the next in the series.
