One more step. My new mantra, and thanks to this book, not just words any longer. For too long it felt like a struggle to go on, even though I knew the right path. This book was very helpful and was like having a dear friend sitting with you.

Rachel Wojo recounts how she had to deal with the death of her mother, divorcing her husband who had been on track to being a pastor and having a child with Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS). Being human, we are all likely to face the dreaded 3Ds: Death, Divorce and Disability. feel as if we all we want to do is hide in our beds forever.

Rachel tries to address the myth that just because you are Christian, it does not mean you will not go through the hard times. You still have to do deal with the baggage that comes with humanity thanks to original sin. For example, she mentions instances in the book when she thought she would receive love and encouragement from her Church family, instead, she had to deal with judgement and looks of disdain from when she needed them the most especially while raising Taylor.

She admits that there were instances when she did not have the strength to go church following these episodes which she admits to being quite tempting. However, she says that is when you need the fellowship of believers them and it is important to shift one's faith from humanity to the Lord.

Throughout, the whole book Rachel uses Biblical examples and draws heavily from her own life to show that even when the going gets tough it is possible to take one day at a time. My personal favourite section of the book was reading about the desert gifts or what to do when you have to apply the "wait and see" method in your own life; how to continue working and living when you don't see an end to your current struggles. At the end of each chapter, she does provide a list of memory verses and actionable steps along with additional resources that can be found on her website.

This book would be a wonderful encouragement after the loss of a loved one or when handling those life curveballs.
