The title, Twisted River, really fit this book for me. It moves kind of slow, meandering along. And then there will be a sharp shift. It meanders another minute, then pulls you around another corner. Some may find the story hard to get into because of its slower pace. However, it fit the mood of the story and it set the scene for two families who desperately need to get away from it all, and thus decided to do a home swap.

Unfortunately, for one family, that was the worst thing they could have done.

The characters involved are complex, yet relate-able. Some of them I wanted to hug, others I wanted to kick in the shins. They were tragic, yet intriguing. They made me want to cry and yell at the same time. And I loved it.

Everything you think you know, you don't. If you think you know where the story is going, at the end you will realize you didn't have a clue.

I'm giving it 4 out of 5 Stars.
