This is typically not the kind of book I pick up. but found myself captivated by such an original story. After Ben has basically failed at his life (career and marriage) be finds a robot in his backyard and takes off on an around the world trip to try and get said robot fixed. Bizarre sounding but it was really nice.
I absolutely fell in love with this story. If you're looking for a book that offers a fun escape this is the one! I will be adding a physical copy to my bookshelves. What a great reading experience! Really uplifting.

BOOK: A Robot in the Garden
AUTHOR: Deborah Install

I actually read this book a few years ago, but for some reason the review never posted. So I am redoing it now.
I mean how much more quirky can you be? A Robot...in your garden? I had a hard time getting through this book though because it tended to be overly sentimental and I don’t really prefer to read those kinds of books. It reminded me a lot of the “boy and his dog” movies except in this case, the dog is a robot. I will say it is very touching and a lovely written book.
Short Synopsis (from Goodreads):
With all the charm and humour of THE ROSIE PROJECT and ABOUT A BOY mingled with the heart-swelling warmth of PADDINGTON BEAR MOVIE.
A story of the greatest friendship ever assembled.
Ben Chambers wakes up to find something rusty and lost underneath the willow tree in his garden. Refusing to throw it on the skip as his wife Amy advises, he takes it home.
