Over the years, I have read many books on tarot and tarot decks. Some are for beginners, and some read like stereo instructions. This book falls right in the middle. The author has an artistic flair for writing. She jokes about the atmosphere and use of incense that she expected to see when she went for reading when she was younger. She talks about the cards as if she is writing a story. Each card is either an archetype, a situation, an opportunity, etc.

The book begins with the history of tarot and people who developed and used specific decks. She then moves on to the cards themselves explaining the difference between the Major and Minor Arcana, the four suits, and court cards. She continues the book by explaining different spreads from daily one cards to creativity spreads using three to seven cards. In my opinion, this is one of the best reference books you can read on the tarot.
