Aubrey's husband has been missing for 5 years and she has been considered the prime suspect. he is then officially declared dead and Aubrey is still wondering what really happened to him.
Lots of twists in this one kept me reading and it was one of those reads when you don't know who to trust. Definitely not my last read by this author.
This review is very late, I was new to netgalley when I read this and must have not saved correctly.
This book was really engrossing at first - I liked the writing, it was fast-paced, it was engaging. There were twists, which I like. But then, some of the twists and circumstances became a bit hard to believe. Without spoilers, it would be hard for me to reveal the sources of implausibility (although I think there are some other reveiws on this site that do this admirably), but they did end up lowering this book from a 3.5-4 star rating to a 2.5 star rating for me. If someone is in the mood for a quick, twisting story, this would fit the bill. I would definitley consider reading another book by this author, the writing is good and I can see the potential.
Full review to be posted soonish.
I would like to thank the publisher and netgalley for providing me a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
I love J.T. Ellison. She never disappoints.
This is a very well told psychological thriller. All the characters seem to have a touch of craziness. This book chronicles the lives of Josh and Aubrey, from their first meeting as children to their happily ever, which is taken away from them too soon. Totally recommend.
Yes, this book definitely fit the psychological thriller category. I was pretty much sucked into the story quickly although none of the characters really connected with me.
Wow, this book had many twists and turns. More than I think I've ever come across. There weren't many characters so someone had to know something they weren't telling. I couldn't figure it out. The chapters flipped back and forth from Aubrey today to Aubrey past.
Finally after almost finishing 70 chapters, I hit the shocker that the author threw in. Wow, I never saw that happening in a million years!! Other than feeling that the ending was a bit rushed, I enjoyed the book very much.
* I was provided an ARC to read from the publisher and NetGalley. It was my decision to read and review this book.
A well told psychological thriller. All the characters seem to have a touch of crazy. This story chronicles the lives of Josh and Aubrey from their meeting as children to their happily ever after that is snatched away from them too soon.
A few years ago, Gone Girl kicked off a huge trend that’s been reverberating through fiction ever since it was published. It’s not just using the word “girl” in the title (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is probably responsible for that one), but the use of unreliable narrators that prevent the reader from figuring out the mystery before the book ends. If the protagonist’s very words cannot be trusted, how can the reader possibly get ahead of her?
Sorry I was not able to read you book but it went to archive before I could get to it. Sorry once again.
Ellison is one of my favorite authors, and while I didn't like this one as much as the books in her two series, I did enjoy it.
No One Knows has characters that are very interesting and a storyline with some twists and turns. I was kept on the edge of my seat by the engrossing plot.
At first there are a lot of fellow-female support feelings for Aubrey, the main character. She has some closure finally after her missing, but presumed dead husband has finally been ruled dead by the State. Unfortunately she was accused of murdering him prior and had that struggle to deal with, along with all the emotions and the wondering of what exactly happened to Josh initially. This is how the reader feels throughout the book WHAT HAPPENED??? Wait, but it’s not in a “I am lost, what is going on” way, but more of a... “Oh my, this is so mysterious, I am on the edge of my seat” way! . The characters are very likable and you can connect to them easily and realistically. This book by J.T. Ellison definitely has the plot twists and the ah-ha moments, that you would expect going in. My latest reading obsession is one for psychological thrillers and this is one that was written superbly!
A well deserved 5 stars. A real page turner of a book. Gripping, with so many twists and turns to keep you guessing all the way through!
This is a twisty tale that kept me reading and kept me on my feet. I really felt the writing was strong in the beginning, but the ending felt rushed.
First, I'd like to thank Netgalley and Gallery, Threshold, Pocket Books for the ebook!
The story seemed promising, the character were quite well written, I really felt for Aubrey and though I was in for a ride.
Well, it was more of a back and forward, what with all the flashbacks! But flasbacks can be good, cause they bring some better understanding of a situation, or a context. So I was happy to read them, as they let me appreciate Aubrey.
Some stuff seemed quite strange though: the fact that nobody saw Josh at the wedding was a bit of a stretch for me. The wedding was quite far away, they arrived together, people saw her but not him and if he wasn't there, nobody asked her where he was... sure.
And then, just as I was enjoying the story, I felt cheated! I do love a good twist but not easy ones. And some explanation and twists were too much deja-vu for my taste. And the more I read the more I was "gosh, the author didn't use that trick too!" but he did.
