Max O’Hare is Carter's best friend and we meet him during A Pound Of Flesh. Here we see that Max is damaged from Lizzie Jordan. Now in An Ounce of Hope, Max is dealing with his addictions and trying to start over where it doesn't include his past and Lizzie.

Max ends up visiting a family that I had no idea about and seemed a bit out of no where but I adored all of them. Here he meets Grace Brooks who thankfully is the complete opposite of Lizzie in every way.

Both Max and Grace have their own baggage and damage but they start a budding friendship which turns into more.

"I see a man who wants so much to be better, who regrets the decisions he made, who wants to make amends and move on with his life. I see a man terrified to take a chance, to trust, but desperate to do so. I see a man who's fractured, but trying. I see hope."

I liked Grace's character she was strong and independent. I thought for sure her past was going to make an appearance but shockingly it didn't. However, Max's did. I was mad that it did, but it was necessary for Max to see what he has now.

I thought the addiction part was done well and I loved his sponsor and psychologist. I loved the bond between Max, Riley and Carter and now I can't wait for Riley's story.

I love all books by Sophie Jackson, she is a definitely a one-click author for me. This book is another part of the Pound of Flesh masterpiece. I have enjoyed this story for a few years now, and love it still. Give it a go and it won't let you stop.
