I loved the way this book approached history, through the eyes of those who lived it. These stories are honest, heartfelt and offer the reader a glimpse into what life was like during one of the most trying periods of history. For the families who worried over their loved ones, to the soldiers out fighting that might never return, or might not return the same as they once were, this book will make you cry, make you think and above all, remind you how lucky you are not to be in this situation today.

I liked the honest, straightforward way this book was put together. The stories of the people are not lost in tons of narrative and are always written about respectfully.

This is an emotional book, and one that deserves to be read, it is with pleasure that I recommend it to you.
