In True Crimes Kathryn Harrison creates a family album compiled of essays that span over a decade. These essays are raw and personal and may leave the reader feeling uncomfortable.

I usually love memoirs and essays, or any personal accounts for that matter. I gave this book two stars, because honestly, it bored me to death. I just couldn’t relate to the author, and I often found myself genuinely disliking her.

I didn’t really like anything about this book, so I will delve into the things I didn’t like:

The chronology of the story is very hard to follow and jumps around without any form of sense.
The stories were not relatable, in my opinion, although they were honest.
The writing style was boring and I just continued to wait for something to catch with me, it just never did.
Honestly, this, to me, was just the life story of a terrible person who tried to find solace in writing a book about it. I wouldn’t really recommend this book to anyone.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
