I love Christmas romances, so I was so excited to receive a copy of A Christmas Homecoming by Melissa McClone for review!
I loved the setting of this book. The ranch sounds like Christmas went to visit and exploded. It sounds so warm and happy and cheerful, and I'd love to visit! Josiah is a workaholic Scrooge. He gets injured and then complications arise, so he's recovering at the ranch away from the normal hustle and bustle of his everyday life. Ellie is a sunshiney housekeeper at the ranch. And she sounds like she might love Christmas as much as I do, which is saying something. Josiah was the childhood best friend of Ellie's terminally ill brother, and he's surprised to see her again when he arrives at the ranch. It's frowned upon for guests and staff to fraternize, so Ellie tries to hold him at arm's length despite their instant attraction. But, of course, love finds a way.
I thought the story was very sweet, and enjoyed reading about two people who have struggled in their lives coming together and discovering a piece of themselves they didn't realize was missing. Both characters were likeable and real. I was pulling for them the whole way through.
A Christmas Homecoming was festive, sweet, and left me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. It did just what I hope every Christmas romance will do for me.
I enjoyed reading this sweet Christmas-time romance. I liked the characters and watching them grow as they interacted with each other. Thank you for providing an ARC!
A sweet, feel-good Christmas romance set in Marietta, Montana.
I think the real star of this love story here is Buck's Place, the organization run by our heroine Ellie (named after her brother), aimed at helping children whose siblings have some type of long term/chronic illness. Having had a terminally ill brother meant her parents had less time to devote to her and her needs. Buck's Place is somewhere these siblings could go for the kind of attention they need but may not get, participate in activities they may not be able to otherwise, get counseling, mentoring, etc.
And it's the thread that binds Ellie with Josiah, Buck's best high school buddy.
Josiah who left Marietta, Montana, started his own business and became a billionaire. A health scare has landed Josiah back in Marietta for recovery and recuperation....at the gentle hands of Buck's younger sister, Ellie.
Christmas provides the backdrop for their budding romance, making full use of the magic and love that inevitably defines the season. Sweet and magical...Christmas romance at its best.
