This wasn’t my favourite book.
I just didn’t care for the dialogue or the characters.
It just wasn’t for me.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an arc in exchange for my honest review.
I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review. I'd like to rate this 3.5 . This is a sweet, contemporary romance about two childhood friends, Carter and Ginger, reconnecting later as adults after having gone separate ways after high school. Carter is divorced and returned home to help his sister who is single and pregnant. Ginger just can't seem to find the right guy. She's not a girly girl. She runs a ferrying business having taken it over after her dad died. She always had feelings for Carter, and it took some time for them to figure out that they truly do love each other. I like the title where it shows them standing on the rocks on the beach watching the sunrise. I find that the title also works in how they are doing in life--Carter's rocky marriage and eventual divorce and a rocky relationship between Ginger and Carter until they finally speak what they truly feel.
Just did not care for this storyline or the dialogue. Thank Netgalley!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book had me hooked from the first chapter. It's hard not to want to read more about a woman who takes a guy to a wedding for a first date, especially a woman who discovers during the wedding that her fingernails are filthy. You have to feel for her! Poor Ginger can't find the right guy...and she's trying really hard!
Carter used to be her next door neighbor and her best friend when they were growing up. He has come back to town to help his pregnant sister. He's hiding things that have really thrown him for a loop. As he and Ginger connect again, they renew their friendship. He watches her go out on doomed date after doomed date. He also watches her go out in her backyard every night to read...after having removed her pants! He's fighting his attraction to her, but how long can he hold out? Should he hold out or should he give her what she so obviously hunts for with all her loser dates? Maybe they can help each other and just possibly find what they both need along the way.
I love Kim's stories and writing styles, and this story was no exception :) A story about two friends that fall in love. Even though this is a very popular plot line and has been done so many times before, Kim is able to breathe fresh air into this story. You can't go wrong with one of her books!
