No Love Allowed Kate Evangelista

If there's one thing I love, it's a fake romance between friends. Yes please, hand it over! No Love Allowed has a lovely balance of lighter, funnier moments and some heavier, more serious moments surrounding the main character's mental health. I really liked Didi. I identified with her artistic side, and I loved her quirkiness. Caleb is the stereotypical rich boy, and was a little harder to love, but I came around eventually. Caleb's cousins were amazing, and really made the story for me. What a great cast of characters! All in all, this was so much fun and I really appreciated the addition of the character with a mental health issue. I can see so many teens finding a friend in Didi and feeling seen. Highly recommended.

An extremely popular choice among quieter readers at work.

This was honestly so unnecessarily dramatic and eye-roll inducing that I just barely managed to finish it. I was looking for a fluffy, second chance romance, but this is definitely not what I got.

All Caleb wants is his gap year, and this is being threatened by his father, who wants Caleb to go to Yale. Tasked with making appearances at his father’s firm events, Caleb finds he needs a fake girlfriend since he dumped his last girl.

Didi was just fired from her job waitressing at the country club. All she wants to do is paint, and when Caleb propositions her she is more than happy to help if he will sit for a portrait.

Soon, their fake relationship begins to seem real, but Didi is struggling with her art and longs to go off of her important medications in order to feel inspired. Being with Caleb makes her want to spin out of control again, and the two will have to find a way to be with each other safely.
