These books are incredible, I can’t fault Victoria and will endlessly read everything she publishes. I love the relationships that develop in this book and am so excited to see where she takes it

I love this series so much does it really need to end?! Maybe at some point, years from now, not a year from now.
The tournament scenes were some of the best parts of this book. I loved reading from Rhy's point of view. Really, anytime he was in the scene just made it that much better.
Some faults would be the slow pacing leading to the tournament. This very much an introspective book more than action.

This preview killed me and brought me back to life. It ended at the absolutely best/worst moment!!! I have been anticipating the sequel ever since Darker Shade finished so magically on a hopeful note. Alucard is my new fave and his hinted-at romance with Rhys has me keysmashing sudnddjd. Lila is more badass than ever and I'm even more excited about Kell's character arc and where it's going to lead him. I swear Holland is not dead yoooo. An incredible sequel to Darker Shade, and I'm 1000% buying it when it comes out,

Incredible book. I read the book and reviewed on my blog. V. E. Schwab is a master of words and I have been a strong advocate both on the internet and in real life. I would recommend this book to absolutely anyone.

I greatly enjoyed this preview for A Gathering of Shadows. After I finished it, I not only bought A Gathering of Shadows, but I also bought A Conjuring of Light, and binge read the rest of the trilogy. It was so good.

¡Estoy deseando ver cómo sigue esta maravillosa historia!
El primer libro me encantó y creo que esta segunda parte también lo hará, igual o incluso más.

The tournament, the magic, the characters, everything about this book was amazing! I loved how Schwab writes mystery, battles and just overall mood of the story. It all ended on a major cliffhanger, making me beg for the next book! I honestly have found a favorite author in Schwab and will forever read her books in the future.

Review Initial reaction: Damn, how am I going to wait another year for the next book?!

4.5 stars
AGoS is an awesome sequel, fortunately it does not suffer from the middle book syndrome. A few months have passed since ADSoM, we get to know what happened to the characters.
First, Lila is as badass as always, so resourceful and determined. I really liked her in this book too, though sometimes I just wanted to shake her, she pushed too hard and did not care about the consequences.
I love Kell, he has changed a lot in this novel, for better or worse, I can not tell. It is a change nevertheless, something that was inevitable after everything that happened in the first book.
Rhy is also a different person now. He is much more serious than before and feels guilty; the scenes between him and Kell are interesting to see.
My ships are sailing - yes, plural. because we have two couples here: one that is a slow-burn romance which was hinted in the first book, the other one was a complete surprise, but I loved them both, I want more. of them.
My only complaint about this book is that the actual game took place about 2/3 of the book, until then there was only build up, which felt a bit slow - though we got to know more about the characters and the rules of magic, latter of which was really interesting.

The cliffhanger is killing, so where is the next book?
