I would love to give 5 stars to every book I read but of course this is not possible. It's always a pity when I finish a book that I have to admit that a lot of things bothered me and it's even worse when there are more things that I did not like than those I liked. The parts about the sex may be deleted for me because they did not add anything to the story. I would have liked to read more about Julia's life before she met Dane. I think it would have made a more interesting read. Sorry.

Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

Wow. This one packed a punch. Emotionally, Gracen had me. I was super invested in the story and Julia's past was almost too much for me. It was so raw and real and I totally understood where she was coming from with her unwillingness to pursue something with Dane. Dane's side of the story needed a little more, though. I wanted more background on the Harrison's. I guess we'll get that in the next books, but I needed more history on them and their relationship with one another.

I also wouldn't have hated an epilogue or a scene explaining the outcome of the whole Max situation.

At the same time, this is a strong start to the series and I'm looking forward to what Gracen has coming for us next.

This first book in The Harrisons series details the romance between Dane (middle brother) and Julia, a lounge singer by night/secretary by day.

Dane is your hot, rich, entitled, and charming billionaire playboy who, in his search for a singer for his newest hotel, stumbles upon the talented, tortured but gorgeous Julia.

She's wary, he's determined. She's got baggage (vindictive ex and long lost son) and is slapped with the label of cougar (she's 41 to his 36!?!) while he was a little clueless when it comes to the real world. SIGH...I really really wanted to like this but it did not came across well...there were a lot of moments I wanted to Gibbs slap one or the other or both for just the cringe-y interactions.

It does end on a higher note though as both kinda develop into these better people that actually manage to be better because of the other.
