Positives: Romance was sweet. It was not overdone at all and it was not the main focus of the novel. The setting was wonderful. Brown painted desolation and desperation well. There were moments of horrible violence and touching kindness. Callum is a strong character. He grows through the book developing as the story goes on. He is a kind boy forced into a world of violence yet he has the capability to feel compassion and to fall in love.
Negatives: Ava, although not a bad character did not carry as much weight as Callum. I wanted to know more about her. I wanted to see more of her. I enjoyed this book, but there was something missing. I just couldn't lose myself in it and whilst reading I often found my mind wandering.
I liked the writing style but the plot seemed to drag. It felt like a lot of repetition happening as far as the characters just running and traveling.
