I love a good kidnapped, fall for the captor story and Forgotten Promises was no different. It's the kind of book that could have been great either way; with or without the kidnapping. The characters are strong, the chemistry is off the charts, and Jessica Lemmon doesn't just write a fluff piece with smut, it's got teeth. It's emotional, angsty, and pulls at you in ways I didn't expect.

This has been on my TBR pile for so long, and I'm glad I finally got around to it. I really enjoyed the storyline and seeing the characters change throughout the story was a great character development. The plot was great and kept my attention. I'm glad I got the chance to read this and will be on the lookout for more in the future!

This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story.The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you

This is one of those stories I liked but didn’t love but felt invested enough that I wanted to continue reading but felt no sense of urgency to do so. It was a quick and easy read and I enjoyed the overall storyline and found the characters interesting. Sometimes it did feel a bit too fast-paced and some things were glossed over making me feel disconnected. Overall, I liked the emotion and drama even though it was a hard subject matter at times. This one falls into the "good" category for me.

There is always hope…

Morgan and Tucker’s story was full of all the things that make romance edgy. Saying Tucker’s past, his childhood on up, was brutal to say the least. I ached for the boy and empathized with the man who struggled with the darkness in himself. He was seeking revenge and Morgan was his way of getting it… Morgan was looking for something. Anything to forget what she’d lost but she was no way prepared for Tucker…

Be prepared for a roller coaster ride of all the things as these two loved and fought their way through so much. If I didn’t connect with the characters the way I’d hoped I’m going to blame it on the ambivalent mood I was in while reading. All the elements for a stellar read were there – conflict, emotion, steam – there was nothing left out in this leaning-to-dark story. If you are looking for a bad boy you have come to the right place!

It’s very rare that you will hear me say that I am not in the mood for a good rom-com read. However, last night found me in one of those moods. You know, the earbuds-in-and-cranking-loud-music-while-you-clean-so-you-don’t-snap-at-anyone moods. So when I settled into bed with my Kindle and my hot cup of tea, I was scrolling through my library and my finger instinctively went to move past the Lemmon section, because let’s face it...only a select few can really pull off a spectacular rom-com read the way that Lemmon can and I didn’t want to inflict my bad mood on to one of her books. As a huge Lemmon fan, I was also absolutely sure that I had read every book she has published so far (outside of her 2 newest as they are next on my list). So imagine my surprise when I realized that I had somehow missed Forgotten Promises. Between the brooding anti-hero on the cover and the intriguing synopsis, I thought maybe this book could stand toe-to-toe with my bad mood and win. I was right.

This book is gritty and raw in the best possible way. Lemmon managed to break my heart and make me ache for a HEA for Tucker and Morgan. I mean, let’s face it, I usually want a HEA from most romances. But this story gripped my heart so much that I had to literally close my Kindle when Tucker finally revealed the truth about his brutal past to Morgan because I was fighting back tears and we all know that trying to read when you are weepy is very, very difficult. I was completely rooting for these two by Chapter 5, even knowing their path was sure to be less than fairy-tale esque.

Lemmon has tackled a multitude of storylines in her writing career and I have adored them all. But the character development and the connection between our male and female MC’s was so gripping that I had to make myself stop at 85% and go to sleep (don’t judge, I had to be up early) so that I wouldn’t binge the last of the book and have to wait another 24 hours to write my review. I knew that Forgotten Promises deserved my fresh and honest opinion. 5 stars!

I enjoyed this book. It pulled you right in and kept you turning the pages. This book was well written and I had no issues following the story.

This was a good story with solid yet flawed characters. Morgan’s curiosity about Tucker gets her into trouble. Spending time alone they come together but he doesn’t feel worthy because of his past. He leaves her but finds himself and comes back for their HEA.

I can't really call this an enjoyable read because of the subject matter, but Lemmon really made me care about Morgan and Tucker. While at first, I was angry at Tucker for how he went about the whole situation, as the story went on, it's clear that he is dealing with a lot of issues stemming from growing up with that monster as a father.

Overall, a good read that had a little heat (which is good...even this much sex made me a little uncomfortable given his backstory).

This was one of the most devastating, heart breaking yet oddly romantic stories I've ever read. The story twists and turns, ripping at your insides, and pulling emotions from you. I couldn't put this book down. You have a young man with a tragic past, trying to clear his name. You have a young girl who is scared and doesn't know what is going on. As things unfold, they hold you tight and don't let you go. It was dark and gritty, but yet romantic.

Love this author an her books. This one has a powerful storyline from the off it keeps you on edge with how gritty an intense it was. It's a story about revenge, truth, loyalty an best of all friends to lovers. This was a fantastic story an wasn't rushed which some story's can be but set the scenes to such a great ending.
