Finding Christmas by Jeannie Moon is a heartwarming and tender romance that beautifully blends healing, second chances, and the magic of the holiday season. The story follows Maggie Benson, a former Navy fighter pilot whose life is shattered by a devastating crash. Forced to return to her small hometown of Holly Point to recover, Maggie struggles to reconcile the woman she was with the person she’s become. Enter Will Fitzgerald, the local high school basketball coach and former NBA star, who steps into Maggie’s life at just the right moment, offering her a chance to heal both physically and emotionally.

Moon crafts a compelling, relatable heroine in Maggie, whose journey of recovery from both her injury and the emotional scars of her past is genuinely moving. Will is equally endearing—patient, kind, and determined to show Maggie that there’s more to life than her past pain. Their slow-burn romance is tender and believable, with the chemistry between them building naturally as they navigate their shared journey of healing and rediscovery.

The small-town setting of Holly Point adds a cozy charm to the narrative, making it the perfect backdrop for a holiday romance. The themes of forgiveness, letting go of old wounds, and finding new beginnings in unexpected places are beautifully woven throughout the story, with the magic of Christmas providing the perfect backdrop for personal transformation.

While the romance is sweet and the holiday vibes are strong, the emotional depth of Finding Christmas is what really sets it apart. Maggie’s internal struggle is palpable, and Will’s unwavering support makes him an ideal romantic hero. This book is a perfect pick for readers looking for a heartwarming story of love, healing, and Christmas magic.

Finding Christmas was a romantic, beautiful and thought provoking read. When I picked this book up, I though it would be a quick Christmas romance, but it is a lot more. This story deals with the aftermath of a tragic military accident. It touches on PTSD, amputation, depression, the desire to give up, the love of families and the strength that love can give to someone suffering.

When Mary Margaret Benson (Maggie) is burned in an accident that caused her plane to crash, she goes into a depression. When she starts to head from that, she contracts a serious infection that causes her leg to be amputated. She wants to give up, she is disfigured, no one will lover her are the thoughts going through her mind. She tells her family to leave and not come back. She is ready to give up, but something pulls her back and she decides to go home and "Find Christmas."

The author builds a loving community for Maggie, but does not sugar coat what she is going through. She deals with some ugly comments from others and has to develop courage from within if she wants to build a new life for herself. Her family is by her side, they are strong and loving, but can only do so much. When she meets Will, the local basketball coach and teacher, something cracks open in her and she wants to give this relationship a chance. I admired this character as I read about what she went through, her thoughts and desires for the future, as well as her fears. I do not want to give the story away, but suffice it to say that the author does a good job of making this novella a full story of Christmas Magic and Love. I will definitely look for more books by this author.
