This book was brilliant from beginning to end. I found myself cheering for the underdogs and booing at the bullies. As the mother of a 4 sons, I could feel the heartache as a mother was forced to decide her allegiance with her son, only because of blood, or to continue to love and support a daughter in law that you've come to love as your own. The thought of these brave women finding and fighting for their true loves while still fulfilling their "duties" they still feel obligated to. It's as if you see their conscience fighting between their wants, needs, desires and obligations.
I have already read of lot of books written by this author and every time she captures my attention from page 1. I really like her down to earth stories about every day situations. Of course there is a happy ending, but it's the way she takes you there, that's so magical. Fluently told with lots of emtions.
This was a touching story of a woman who leaves her cheating husband, which spurs her mother-in-law to also leave her unhappy marriage. Nichole doesn't want her young son to believe that infidelity is okay, so she packs up and leaves, moving to an apartment. Her mother-in-law, Leanne, decides that her husbands cheating has gone on too long, and she moves into the same apartment complex with her daughter-in-law and grandson Owen.
Both women meet men who wouldn't have been the type they would have thought would interest them, but these men are protective and loyal, and just what these two women need.
This was a story with some great characters, touching romances, and a good storyline.
I have actually reread this book since the first time I read it a year ago, that is how much I enjoyed the story. The characters are very well developed and Macomber does a great job weaving Nichole and Leanne's stories together that make them feel very connected, even though they are two different love stories. Nikolai actually ends up being my favorite character in the book but all of them are wonderful in their own way (except Jake!!). This is an uplifting and inspiring read and I recommend it to anyone who loves romance and stories about self-confident women.
This was a classic Debbie Macomber book, filled with characters you feel like you get to know as family. I recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Debbie Macomber, Karen White or Nora Roberts.
I enjoyed this story. This is my first Debbi Macomber book I've read and will be checking out some of her other books.
I've read several books by Macomber and have loved them all. I thought this book had a great storyline of standing up for themselves and not staying in a relationship because thats what you're supposed to do. I loved their strong convictions and their ability to move forward but at times I just felt this real life situation just became too ficticous.
