I loved reading as I kid but struggle to find time as an adult. It’s often impossible to sit down to focus. While this book was not memorable overall, I’m sure it’s not you, dear book, it’s me.

This was a wonderful book set in the South and spanning many years. It's been a while since I actually read it, but the tone was wonderful. There were many heartaches, life's lessons learned and triumphs contained in this wonderful coming of age story about an orphaned boy and his black friend/lover. The main character learned many lessons about love, loss, hard work and the sad and primal nature of some human beings. I would read it again in a heartbeat. It was a wonderful book.
