I liked the first few chapters. The author did a good job drawing the reader into this book. I thought that the main characters, Mac and Beth, had some series chemistry.
The initial awkwardness of seeing each other at work then working together as partners also worked well. Mac was able to remain professional at the office.

One issue I had with this book, is that the characters seemed to handle their disagreements with high school like behaviour. I had a hard time believing that they were adults. The childish pranks continued throughout the book and became too campy.

There was also too much of a push pull dynamic between the main characters. Trying to keep their relationship platonic, outside of the office, didn’t work very well. This caused the instant love angle hard for me to accept as well.

I thought the relationship between Mac and his daughter was sweet and well written. Ashley was a funny four-year old who I thought was surprisingly we’ll adjustable despite the adults in the adults in her life.
