Beautiful, dark illustrations create a lovely backdrop for Bera the One-Headed Troll. I read this with my 3 year old and 6 year old, both became very invested in the fate of the cute little baby.

Bera's journey includes many twists and turns. The story moves very quickly, I would have liked to linger in some of the places and learn more about them and the characters. While I wanted more depth and exploration, my kids loved the fast pace. I also would have liked to see more setup in the earlier parts of the story to connect with characters and events that come later, some of them pivotal to the conclusion.

Overall, a sweet story that kids will love. It's a great introduction to graphic novels for youngsters.
