Thank you netgalley and the publisher’s for giving me the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Interesting premise, but another book that tells more than shows.

This book has all the makings of great series, fantasy, magic, romance and a gripping adventure. The main character was somewhat annoying and the male love interest was your typical hates her, loves her.
A fantastic world is created with lots of potential, i felt it could have been developed further.

I was really excited to read Girl of Myth and Legend as it had an intriguing premise, promising a good fantasy story where a girl is swept away to a magical land, to learn about who she is as the last of the 'Chosen'. I was also excited to see if this would also explore the idea of the 'chosen one' trope. Sadly, this book did not meet my expectations. While the myth and the fantasy land it is set i was interesting, I found it hard to get invested as I did not agree with the writing style. There was too much tell, and not enough show. The depth I was expecting wasn't there. The story just moved through the motions without any emotion. For that reason, I do not think I will be continuing on with this series but I thank you for the opportunity to review this novel.

Sadly this book was not for me. I found myself constantly trying to pick it up but then instantly putting it down because the writing style just wasn't what I enjoyed.; I appreciate the opportunity to review this book but sadly just couldn't find myself wanting to read it.

I had trouble connecting with any of the characters which for me is one of the most important parts of a book. The trouble was the tell-not-show method the writing took. I felt like i was reading a y/n type of character instead of an actual character.

Plot-wise there was nothing extraordinary but nothing that irked me either. I’d say if you are more of a plot focused reader than a character focused reader then you will enjoy this more.

I loved the cover and the summary. Unfortunately the cliches that every YA book has, this had every single one. Sorry, I think I'm too old for this genre now.

this book for me sadly not at all for me.
i don’t mind tropes, i don’t think there is a whole lot new things to write about actually so tropes are great and they also give the reader a good understanding of what the book is about and worth that the knowledge if the book is for them.

but there is the usage of tropes and then there a books like this one where it just felt as if the author decided that to write a ya book they need to include ALL the tropes in one book to make it worth while.
and that doesn’t work for me at all!
pick one or two, make it interesting in some way -i don’t care how actually! characters that are unique on their way? genius plot or world setting? writing that doesn’t let me stop reading?- any one of those would have done the trick!

sadly i’m this book nothing is there other then why to many well known tropes all meshed together.

not for me and not something h would recommend anyone i know!

Ok so the name of this book is literally The Chosen Saga, so yeah I walked into this knowing that the chosen one trope was going to be first and foremost. So that didn't annoy me much I mean if the trope is done right you hardly notice or if there is more than one chosen one. Like Star Wars. Yeah Luke learned the way of the Force, but Leia was just as bad ass and she was the one that kept the resistance going when all the menfolk got broody and selfish.

Uh but I digress, you remember that scene in Julie/Julia when Julia is sitting in the office of her publisher and they are trying to come up with a better name for her famous cookbook. There was a big corkboard full of index cards and the editor is just putting in cards here and there trying to make magic happen? ell this is how I imaged this book was written. Simlett took every single YA trope and cliche, wrote them down on index cards and moved them around her storyboard trying to make all of them stick and work.

Female main character who has to constantly doubt and underestimate herself to seem endearing, yep. Insta-love with her abused soulmate, righto. Teenager chosen one who has to save the world even though she can barely spell her name, sure thing. And the cliches just keep coming folks, seriously there are more.

Reading this was like rewatching Jupiter Ascending, and seeing that film once was ENOUGH for me thank you very much, and I'm not interested enough to read the sequel

I loved the plot, but I felt it was a total 180 from the style of book 1 and I didn’t care for the naivety of the main character. It was too much of a set up that she’d break the rules. Not as good as book 1 ☹️

Thank you Netgalley for sending me this ARC. I was very captivated by this story. Leonie is a strong willed lead character that stands for what she believes in despite others trying to sway her. Korren is her kytaen, which is like a servant, but she treats him as an equal. There is mystery, magic, adventure, rebels, and fighting. So much more, too! I was surprised by the low ratings and negative reviews. The only thing I didn't like was that there were quite a few times where the author pleated a word or phrase 3 times in a row. Probably meant for emphasis, but after a couple of times it was a little bit annoying. Otherwise, I really loved this book!! I look forward to reading more from this author and hopefully more of this particular series.

I cannot really remember any specifics in this book (probably because I skimmed through a lot of it), although I can strongly recall feeling annoyed, frustrated, and ultimately, incredibly bored. Not only did the plot move at a sluggish pace, but also, and perhaps more annoyingly, Girl of Myth and Legend served countless of tired out fantasy clichés with an extra helping of ~*The Chosen One*~ complex. I don't typically mind the one-person-to-save-them-all angle, but the main character was one-dimensional with an awfully off-putting personality, that is, obnoxious and petulant. She also liked to repetitively emphasize how she was the ~*total antithesis*~ of a people person. Her love interest was a lot less irritating in comparison, really.

Aside from the underdeveloped set of characters, the book's weakest element was really the writing itself. There was a lot of saying instead of showing. The writing felt clunky in a lot of parts and never seemed to flow cohesively. The dialogue was the stuff you'd find in first drafts of fanfiction.

Basically, this was definitely not my cup of tea. I'd like to think that Girl of Myth and Legend had a lot of potential to be a decent fantasy read, but it, unfortunately, failed in just about every aspect in terms of execution.

I was really grateful to have been given this book to Beta read (& I did a little editing too). I was also granted it on Netgalley.

Giselle is one of my new favourite authors! I love how she weaves a tale of an unremarkable girl thrust into becoming the 'Chosen' one. Very Harry Potter-esqe, I guess so that was a bit cliche but It was one of those books that I could not stop reading which def made it easier to beta read. It's now one of my favourite series & Korren and Leonie are one of my favourite ships! Their relationship was tumultuous in the beginning but then it blossomed and made me root for them. An unforgettable story that is a must read especially if you love Fantasy.

As a side note, I was also given the second book in the series, 'Order of the Dust', to beta read and it was just as amazing. I LOVED IT!. Review for that coming soon.
