I've been an fan of the X-files from the very start (way back in 1993) and this comic/graphic novel wasn't a disappointment. Great for old fans and new fans alike.
A good book, but I just could not get into it. Just not my genre I suppose. I am sure it will be loved by many.
For fans of the TV show, The X-Files, the story continues in the graphic novel X-Files: Season 11 Volume 1. It includes many of the beloved characters from the show and the story maintains the intrinsic feel of the show. Mysterious objects are discovered, pawns are moved around the board. Scully is skeptical and searches for a logical explanation while Mulder goes for the occult reasoning.
I was never an avid watcher of The X-Files (mostly because I was young and a weenie when it was on, so it scared the bejeebies out of me!). Because of this, there were parts of this novel that were hard for me to discern. There appeared to be several throwbacks to episodes of the show, points when true fans would say "Oh, man! I remember that! Glad they brought it back!" This thought, however, is completely based on conjecture and a hunch.
That being said, there are things that I really liked about this book, and things that could have been improved. My biggest nitpick is with the artistic style. As an original story, it would have been great, but as an X-Files graphic novel, often the characters were difficult to recognize as characters from the television program. For example, there was a man that was in the story for several pages before another character's comment finally made me realize that the man in question was actually Mulder! Then I had to go back and re-read, taking Mulder's identity into account. That little fact quite changed the context of the story at that point.
All-in-all, if you are a fan of the show, The X-Files: Season 11 Volume 1 by Joe Harris is a great way to continue the story where the show left off.
