Plot:
Every chapter the time switched from the current summer to the summer before. This book deals with the main character, Quinnin's loss of her sister. In the summer before we follow what happens prior to Hailey's death, and that was the only interesting part of the story. I found the current summer perspective to be extremely boring. This book, in my opinion, would have been better off with just telling the story of Hailey's death, instead of alternating.
Characters:
The characters didn't have a ton of depth since this was a short book. Even though this was a character-driven book, I don't really any form of attachment to any of them and could care less.
Overall Thoughts:
I could've done without this book, but reading what happened during Hailey's death was quite interesting. But I feel like the rest of the novel fell short. However, if you are into middle-grade contemporary, then this book might be for you.
