This book was so much fun to read! The spy stuff was a thrill to read and I loved reading the insights into the world of magazine publishing and travel writers.
I really can't catch a break...The last few books I've read (with the exception of maybe 1) have all been disappointing and lacklustre. Since I had read Chris Pavone before, and enjoyed both The Expats and The Accident, and since I am a fan of the spy thriller genre, I thought I'd finally give The Travelers a try. I mean it has been on my TBR since January 2016.
Right now I wish I could go back in time and read something else. I was initially intrigued by the premise (Will Rhodes, travel writer travelling to exotic locations) and the first 50 pages actually managed to hold my interest. But that's about as far as the goodness of this book extends to. It's downfall can be blamed on a couple of culprits including an overly convoluted and unnecessarily confusing plot, uninteresting, unlikeable and one-dimensional characters and a narrative that was for the most part extremely vague except for when it went on and on with no end.
I hope others have a better time with The Travelers but I barely finished it.
