The Rebel by Marta Perry wraps up a great trilogy of Amish books that follow dual timelines. Barbie Lapp has skirted the edge of Amish and Englisch for awhile, working for an Englisch cafe. While going out with her friend, she sees a young Amish girl who is drunk and in trouble. She rescues this girl and takes her home, where her brother Ben lives with their father. Ben, whose wife passed away in childbirth, is a minister in their church district. He disapproves of Barbie, but finds her fascinating. I thought this was a great story and different from typical Amish romances. I love Marta Perry's writing and look forward to reading more from her.
